Landmark No. 005 · The Journey Home
Home is where someone is expected.
The porch light is on. Come in—we have been expecting you.
Come up to the porchThe deep porch
The rocking chairs do not match. One porch board is newer than the others. Pickles has claimed the warmest patch of afternoon light.
Nothing here has been arranged to impress you. It has been tended so you can rest. Set down whatever you have been carrying. The Valley will keep it company for a while.
The door was never built to keep people out.
It was built so someone could welcome them in.

Inside the House
The fire is comfortable rather than grand. There is always another chair, even when no one knew company was coming.
A loaf cools beneath a linen cloth. Tea, coffee, stories, and long pauses all belong here.
The House keeps a small journal near the door. Signing it is welcome, never required.
A stone path winds through herbs and flowers toward the Conservatory and the Workshop beyond.
The hall table
The pages remember presence, not attendance.
Angie stopped by and became the fifth Founding Neighbor.
Deanna trusted the Bookkeeper with the words, “Surprise me.”
Mams found a cottage beside the creek and lit the first porch on Moonwater Lane.
Cindy followed the woodland path to Pinewatch Cottage on Wolfpine Lane.
Edgar inspected everything. He approved.
The kettle never quite cooled.
There are still blank pages waiting. The right names always seem to arrive in their own time.
Just beyond the back door
The House, Conservatory, and Workshop do not stand apart. They share weather, birdsong, herbs, muddy boots, and the sound of someone making something nearby.
Follow the stones toward morning light in the Conservatory, or turn where the cedar scent and gentle tapping lead to the Workshop.
Valley Paths
There is no need to choose quickly. Every path will still be here.
Quiet discoveries nearby
Lantern Rest waits between the bridge and the porch. Fresh lavender sometimes appears on its bench.
